Callers
from Social Security Setting Up Sales Visits
****** Alert #171 ******
Task Force Co-Chair Maryanne Dailey of the Better Business Bureau in Charlotte shares the following concerning a new wave of callers purporting to be with Social Security: We are receiving numerous telephone calls from older adults who have been contacted by phone by individuals claiming to be from Social Security. These individuals are telling the older adults that they will be personally visited by a Social Security representative who will be explaining all of the changes in their social security benefits. We are telling our callers that Social Security would not utilize this tactic nor place them in this type of unsafe position.
