Possible Tax Appraisal Scam Reported

Durham County officials have reported a possible scam in which home owners are being told to hire an appraiser to help them with county property tax reappraisals that are now in progress. Home owners reportedly are being told to pay a fee in advance for this assistance. Officials indicate that the persons making these pitches may be targeting older home owners. They say that independent appraisals and fees associated with the tax reappraisals are not necessary.
