Urgent! We Are Now Servicing Your Mortgage

Former Task Force Co-Chair Art Englebardt, now working with the Cornelius Police Department, wishes to share the following with fellow Task Force members:

An older consumer in the Cornelius community received a text message on her phone. It was from a company she had never heard from before. The message indicated that the company was now servicing her mortgage account and that she needed to provide sensitive checking account information (including her PIN) right away so that automatic mortgage payments could be switched over without a monthly payment being missed. She did not respond to the message. Her mortgage had not been assigned to another company.
