POLICE WARN ABOUT SCAM ARTISTS
WAKE FOREST, NC – March 11, 2010 – The Wake Forest Police Department is warning residents about two scam artists working in the area.
Police say a Hispanic couple have tried to or have made entry into homes under the guise of tree trimmers performing contract work on behalf of the City of Raleigh. Once a resident opens the door, the woman leads the victim into a separate section of the house. While the victim is distracted, the male sneaks into the house and steals items from the home.
One of the suspects is described as a Hispanic female, with dyed, blond hair, standing approximately 5’4” tall with medium build. During one incident, she was reportedly wearing a colorful orange jacket. The other suspect is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and long sideburns. He stands 5’6” tall, is slender, and weighs between 150-170 lbs.
A young child is believed to be accompanying the couple, who are reportedly driving a large white vehicle – possibly an SUV, van, or pickup with a camper shell.
Police are asking anyone with information or who witnesses this type of activity to contact the Wake Forest Police Department at (919) 556-9111. You may remain anonymous.
