******Alert #242******

Phil Fravel with Security Savings Bank in Southport and Whiteville shares the following alert about identity thieves who are pretending to be with that bank:

Area residents are receiving calls and messages from a “Representative” of Security Savings Bank asking that they call 910-207-0000 as there is a problem with their Visa Debit Card. These calls are a SCAM! Security Savings Bank will not call or text any customers asking for any type of Personal Information. Should you receive one of these calls, please do not respond– just hang up on the caller. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of our local offices.

Security Savings Bank has had their name on this scam in the last few days. It is anticipated that other banks’ names may be used soon. No bank or credit union will contact their customers requesting such personal information
