To NC Senior Consumer Fraud Task Force Members ******Alert #252****** The Chatham County Council on Aging and the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services share the following warning about possible identity thieves calling with a pitch about free glucose meters. In adjoining Randolph County, officials report that an older citizen was badgered by one of these callers until he agreed to accept the meter and complied with the caller’s request for his Social Security number. The caller hung up as soon as the man gave his Social Security number. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chatham Residents Warned about Diabetes Telemarketing Calls PITTSBORO—The Chatham County Council on Aging alerts residents to a phone calls from someone marketing diabetes testing equipment. The marketer is asking for personal health information and addresses over the phone.
