Gaston County Police Seeking Suspects Scamming Elderly
Gaston County Police is seeking the whereabouts of Stanley Eric Dias a black male, age 46, along with four white males who are targeting the elderly in a roof painting scam. Stanley Dais and the unidentified accomplices are pretending to work for Sherwin-Williams and telling potential victims that they can spray a chemical on the roof to ensure it lasts 20 years. This is a scam and the suspects do not spray anything on the roof. They convince the victims to pay up front and leave under the pretense of returning later to complete the work but never return.
Stanley Dias and his accomplices have been seen in the Stanley area in the last week. He and his accomplices targeted an 84 year old individual and scammed $2700 from the victim. Stanley Dias currently has an outstanding warrant in Gaston County for defrauding the elderly and is also wanted in Tennessee for similar crimes. Stanley Dias and the four white males are known to be driving a white van and a brown pickup truck.
Anyone with information on the location of Stanley Dias and the identities of the four white males accompanying him are asked to contact Gaston County Police at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
For more information contact Captain J. D. Ramey at 704-866-3393 or 704-747-1532.
