The Nash County Sheriff’s Department has issued the following warning about a caller who impersonates a member of his staff and attempts to run the so-called jury duty scam:
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
THE NASH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WOULD LIKE TO LET EVERYONE IN THE TWIN COUNTIES KNOW THAT THERE IS A SUBJECT MAKING PHONE CALLS TO CITIZENS INFORMING THEM THAT THE CITIZEN HAS MISSED JURY DUTY AND THEY WILL BE ARRESTED IF THEY DO NOT PAY MONEY TO A PAY-PAL ACCOUNT. THE INDIVIDUAL MAY USE THE NAME “MAJOR WILSON” AND CLAIM TO POSSESS BADGE NUMBER 72.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THIS PERSON. THE NASH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL NOT CALL YOU FOR MISSING A JURY SUMMONS!
WE ARE ACTIVELY WORKING ON THIS INFORMATION TO TRY AND MAKE AN ARREST IN THIS INCIDENT.
