Be advised that a change in calculation of expiration dates will occur for all NC Nurse Aide I and NC Medication Aide Registry listings that expire November 2007 and after.
Beginning with November 2007 expiration dates, all listings will expire on an end of month cycle. This means that renewals for these listings will be based upon the most recent qualified employment MONTH, and the new expiration date will always fall at the end of a month.
For example, if an aide’s listing expires November 30, 2007, and the most recent qualified date of employment was during the month of September 2007 - any day during the month - the new expiration date will be September 30, 2009 (twenty four months out).
Any Nurse Aide I or Medication Aide with a listing that expires in October 2007 or before will remain under the former method of calculation (based on the most recent qualified employment DAY, twenty four months out), and these listings will be converted to the new method when renewal information is received that enables an expiration date of November 2007 or later.
Under the new method of calculation, the 24 month period will also be slightly different. For example, under the old method of calculating to the day, a 24 month renewal cycle would look like this:
The 24-month period for the new calculations will look like this:
Both the old and new methods of calculating expiration dates and renewal periods ensure that employment is held during each 24 month period before renewal is allowed; however, converting to an end of month expiration date for all aides will provide a more uniform system and assist individuals and facilities with expiration date tracking.
