Education Department

The Center for Aide Regulation and Education (CARE) provides regulatory oversight and support to nurse aide education programs through its regional offices. These offices are staffed by nurse education consultants who provide ongoing support and oversight to existing nurse aide training programs, provide start-up consultations for entities developing new program proposals for state-approval, and, ultimately, review and determine state-approval for nurse aide training programs. In addition to education programs, CARE provides regulatory monitoring and oversight of state-wide, standardized competency testing for NC Nurse Aide I and NC Medication Aide. The state office in Raleigh provides additional support to schools, facilities, and the public through its administrative and management staff.

Existing programs with questions or concerns should contact their Regional Office Education Consultant. Questions regarding start-up of a nurse aide training program and all other program-related questions should first be directed to the educator support staff at the state office in Raleigh. Individuals who wish to be listed on either the Nurse Aide I Registry or Medication Aide Registry should contact the registry office at CARE and those who wish to locate a program in their area should check the list of state-approved nurse aide training programs.
