Find a Medicaid Doctor or Dentist

There are several ways to find a Medicaid doctor, dentist, or other medical provider. Before you make an appointment, be sure to ask if the provider still takes Medicaid patients.

  • Dental Provider List
  • Mental Health Providers (July 2008)
  • NC Healthcare Safety Net Organizations (by county) - The listing includes contact information for healthcare safety net organizations in North Carolina, including: federally qualified health centers, state-funded rural health centers, federally designated rural health clinics, free clinics, local health departments, other non-profit safety net providers, Project Access programs, Healthy Communities Access Program (HCAP) grantees, hospital outpatient clinics, Area Health Education Center (AHEC) residency teaching clinics, hospitals, departments of social services (DSS), school-based and school-linked health centers, local medical societies (with staff), and local area mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse (MH/DD/SA) programs.
  • Your local County Department of Social Services (DSS) office has a complete listing of doctors who accept Medicaid patients.
  • The CARE-LINE can also assist you with finding a optical, mental health, hearing aides, or dental provider. Call 1-800-662-7030. (If you live in Wake County, the CARE-LINE is at (919) 855-4400.)
