An Ambulatory Surgical Center, or ASC, is any distinct entity that operates exclusively for the purpose of providing surgical services to recipients not requiring hospitalization.
Updates to the list of procedures that are covered when provided in an ASC are published in the general Medicaid bulletin. The list of approved procedures is based on the list of procedure codes published in the Code of Federal Regulations (42 CFR 416).
