Educational Resources

Classroom and Community Education

State public health dental hygienists provide classroom and community education/promotion programs that may include educational videos and other audiovisual tools, printed educational materials and interactive exhibits.  Instruction covers dental disease prevention, oral hygiene practices, dental injury prevention, appropriate diet, consumerism and professional dental care practices. These programs are targeted towards elementary aged children to establish good oral hygiene habits.

Dental Bytes

Get a copy of the Dental Bytes newsletter. It is designed for teachers but is filled with information that can be used by parents, health educators, dental professionals, etc.

Resources for Teachers

Education programs for teachers and parents who school their children at home include instruction on selected topics; printed educational materials.  Contact your state public health dental hygienist for more information.

Educational Materials

These educational materials are for use in an educational or clinical setting. Framework for Dental Health Education, a comprehensive dental health curriculum including companion videos and study guides, is available for all elementary teachers in the state.  Parents who school their children at home can also use this curriculum. Brochures are available on various oral health topics.

The following oral health educational materials may be printed and reproduced for use in oral health education activities. These materials are offered as a courtesy to parents, teachers and professionals to use when working with their child, student or patient.  Please do not alter any of the materials. Use them as they appear in the original file.

The educational materials are formatted to print to the most convenient and effective sizes depending on how they are used.  Every effort was made to allow printing on most printers, and they are all effective in either color or black and white.  Some items are unavoidably formatted in legal (8.5" x 14"), or tabloid (11" x 17") size.  Alternate sizes are provided whenever possible.  

Some items are available as printed copies. To request printed copies, please mail us the Educational Materials Order Form.  Include your state courier number, if available, for shipping.  All health education items are available in English.  Items available in Spanish are indicated on the form.
