Committee Reports:

Policies and Procedures Committee—John Marens

DSB is providing more clarification about the level of financial support that is being provided to consumers for books and supplies.  It is limited to $1,000 per academic year and $225 per summer session without regard to economic need.

DSB is developing an administrative policy regarding employees or family members that are in need of services.  Because of confidentiality, these employees or family members will be referred to other office other than where he/she is employed.
The Chief of the respected Program will determine the office that will serve the employee.

The Rules Review Commission approved the request to amend the rule on Economic Needs.

Mr. Marens developed a brochure that explains the entire Rehabilitation process to consumers.  It is also available in large print and electronically.  Mr. Marens shared a copy of the brochure with the committee.

State Plan Committee—David Arthur

The State Plan has been submitted and accepted by RSA.

Consumer Information Committee—Julie Kagy

These surveys are sent out to closed cases.  Out of 137 surveys sent out, 37 were returned.  Overall, the responses were good.
Mrs. Kagy requested that the Division concentrate on getting better survey results and obtain more recent and comprehensive responses from consumers.  DSB has had a high rate of staff turnover this past year.  Most of the vacant positions are currently filled.
