Data on Walter B. Jones ADATC

The Walter B. Jones Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (ADATC) is an 80-bed in-patient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of alcohol and other drug dependent adults with co-occurring psychiatric disorders in the 38 counties of the eastern region.  The center provides treatment for pregnant and postpartum women and their infants through an on-site maternal unit that serves women from any of North Carolina's 100 counties. The length of stay at WBJ ADATC is variable and determined by individual need. Admission is available to any adult consumer in the WBJ ADATC service region regardless of financial resources or

insurance status. Referrals are made by Local Management Entities within the WBJ ADATC service region.

The ADATCs are inspected on a regular basis by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). external link graphic Inspectors may also conduct inspections in order to assess problems that arise between recertification visits.  CMS decides whether the ADATCs are in compliance with standards and thereby eligible to receive payment through Medicare and/or Medicaid.  The ADATCs may also be certified by the Joint Commission, external link graphic an independent not-for-profit organization that accredits healthcare organizations. If any deaths occur in the treatment center, or if there are any significant patient injuries or significant events involving staff, these will be reported on this page (beginning in January 2008).

Information related to deaths may be obtained from the Chief Medical Examiner's Office at http://ocme.dhhs.nc.gov/ or at 919-743-9000 and/or with permission granted from the patient/resident or their legally responsible person in accordance with NC General Statute 122C-52(e) and 42 Code of Federal Regulations Chapter 7.
