NC Openbook Disclosure of Confidential Information

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is committed to the protection of the privacy of an individual’s protected health information.  Due to a recent incident, we need to make you aware of a potential privacy issue regarding your information.
Beginning in 2009, Governor Beverly Perdue directed the Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) to build and maintain NC OpenBook in order to create a searchable website on state spending for grants and contracts.  The McCrory Administration recently discovered that among the payments posted were payments made to clients of state operated healthcare facilities.  These clients were identified as “vendors” and long with all other vendors paid through the system, had the following information listed on NC OpenBook: name, address, date of payment, dollar amount paid and the name of the facility that made the payment.  The McCrory Administration has now determined that some of this information was inadvertently and improperly disclosed.  If you are receiving this letter you are a client whose information, as described above, was included on the NC OpenBook website. Ready NC Connect NC
