How do I apply for heating service and when will I receive it?
How do I receive heating or cooling services in an emergency situation?

Question: How do I apply for heating service and when will I receive it?
Answer: The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) program provides a one-time cash payment to help eligible families pay heating bills. Applications are taken at local county Department of Social Services in the fall and checks are mailed to eligible households in February.

Question: How do I receive heating or cooling services in an emergency situation?
Answer: The Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) provides services to low-income households who are experiencing or in danger of experiencing a heating or cooling related crisis. A household must have a net countable income equal to or below 150% of the current poverty level and include a United States citizen or an eligible alien. To find out more, please visit the Energy Assistance pages or contact your local county Department of Social Services.
