Resource Classes

Vocational Enrichment

This class, taught by a Wayne Community College instructor, focuses on providing consumers with academic, personal, and workplace skills. Classwork is designed around vocational needs. Successful completion of the class helps prepare consumers to enter GED or AHS programs, as well as improve their abilities in basic reading, math and workplace skills.

Driver’s Education Test Preparation

This program offers the classroom portion of Driver’s Education, which focuses on helping consumers understand basic driving information, driving laws, regulations, and traffic signs. Training includes viewing driver’s education videos, quizzes and tutoring sessions covering information in the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles Handbook.

Succeeding in the Workplace

This class helps consumers focus on developing and maintaining behavior and attitudes necessary to find and maintain a job. Consumers learn through classroom instruction and role-playing, practicing the completion of job applications, creating résumés and interviewing for a job.

Self-Advocacy

This class helps consumers learn how to advocate for themselves. Consumers learn how to speak up, communicate in an assertive manner and make responsible and informed choices.

Human Resources Development - Employability Lab

This class, taught by a Wayne Community College instructor, focuses on providing consumers with the means to improve their communication skills, problem-solving skills, and employability skills.
