
Wellness Activities Available at DHHS Worksites
Worksite wellness activities are organized through wellness committees at each DHHS division/office and facility. Types of wellness activities available may include walking clubs, fitness equipment/classes, weight management programs, stress reliever activities, and educational presentations. Contact your DHHS Agency Wellness Representative for information about wellness activities at your worksite.
Participation in worksite wellness activities is completely voluntary and occurs on your own time.

Haywood Gym Wellness Center on Dix Campus in RaleighThe Haywood Gym Wellness Center offers a basketball/volleyball court, showers, lockers, restrooms, and a fitness room. with 2 treadmills, 2 exercise bikes, an elliptical machine, and hand weights. The gym and fitness room are available to DHHS employees every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The gym area can be used for recreation if there is not a scheduled activity.
A variety of wellness classes and team sports for employees are scheduled at the gym. See the gym schedule (XLS, 3124KB). For information about the scheduled activities, email or call the activity contact person.
Employees must sign a DHHS Haywood Gym Liability Release form and agreement regarding rules for use of the facility andrequest a gym access card from DIRM through their agency wellness representative to receive an access card for the gym and fitness room.

Reserve the GymThe Haywood Gym may also be used for department events, such as blood drives and large meetings as well as for DHHS client and community service agency activities, when needed. Use of the Haywood Gym must be reserved through the Department using the Haywood Gymnasium Facility Request Form.
Groups wanting to reserve the gym area for wellness activities, team sports, meetings, or events should do the following:
Employees choosing to participate, should sign the general Department Wellness liability release form and give it to their agency Wellness Representative to be kept in the employee’s personnel file. Some activities such as fitness classes, team sports, or use of fitness equipment may require an additional special release form.
Employees generally participate in worksite wellness activities during non-work time. Some special organized group wellness activities and events may receive approval by the department or agency director for participation during work time.
