Career Banding in DHHS

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the current legislative suspension of Career Banding pending further study, we have decided not to move forward with banding any other classes other than Social Research at this time. We will not be working on banding activities related to Institutional Services, Trades, Administrative Support, or Legal until the results of the study are released. Law Enforcement and IT have been banded and we will continue using Career Banding policies to run those two programs while working on the implementation process for Social Research positions.

Introduction:

DHHS will be phasing in Career Banding over the next 3 to 5 years. Banding is a new human resources system that affects the way we classify, hire, pay, promote, evaluate, and provide career development opportunities for our employees.

A Changing Web Site:

The definitions, policies, and procedures associated with this new Human Resource system are being refined (and sometimes changed significantly) as we get into more of the specifics of how Career Banding will work. The Office of State Personnel is working with DHHS and other agency representatives to work out all of the elements and effects of Career Banding. As this planning and development phase continues, some changes and re-interpretations will take place, and some specifics will be developed.

We will continually change and update the information on this web site to keep you informed on the latest information available to us. To see what's new at a glance, check the day of the last update posted at the top of each page and click on the date to go to a summary of the changes posted to the entire website.
