On 9-16-03, we forwarded the new policy from OSP to Division Directors via e-mail.
The new policy outlines developing and maintaining departmental procedures, including how closing decisions will be made and how they will be communicated to employees.
The policy also includes closings in case of emergencies other than
weather conditions (such as terrorist acts, contamination by hazardous
agents, disruption of power, equipment failure, etc.)
Also, it recognizes the authority of the Department Head or his/her
designee to make decisions for:
- Closings within Wake County when emergency conditions affect
only that agency, such as caused by power disruptions,
etc.
- Closings for 24-hour operations outside regular workdays,
which will be reported by the Department to State
Personnel within five
days.
- Closings outside of Wake County, which must also be reported
by the Department to State Personnel within five days.
The policy is online at http:// www.osp.state.nc.us /manuals/ manual99 /weather_etcpolicy.pdf.
