The Division of Human Resources as an Organizational Unit
Most DHHS divisions and facilities have a human resources office. Therefore, as an employee of DHHS-HR, you work either in a division or facility human resources office or in the central office of DHHS-HR. This organizational chart may help.
The central office of DHHS-HR and the division HR offices are located in Raleigh. The facility HR offices are co-located on their respective facility campuses.
Some human resource offices serve more than one division. For example, the Secretary’s-HR Office serves the divisions of Aging, Rural Health, Information Resources as well as other divisions and offices. The division and facility human resources offices report to the central office of the Division of Human Resources.
While the DHHS-HR central office provides direct administrative and technical management of all division, facility human resources staff, there is a “dotted line” reporting relationship to each respective division and facility director’s office.
The dotted line relationship means that division and facility management and human resources staff work in partnership on the programs’ respective human resources priorities and needs.
The DHHS-HR division reports to the Assistant Secretary for Business and Finance who reports to the DHHS Secretary.
