Selection Tools

HR Classes Offered to DHHS Supervisors

Hiring managers have an array of selection tools at their disposal to aid them in identifying the best applicant for a vacant position. This workshop is designed to help supervisors and hiring managers use each of these tools in a valid, reliable, legally defensible manner. The focus of this training will be on the NC job application, structured interviews, work samples, and reference checking as tools to obtain information on key hiring elements from each candidate.

General Course Objectives

Participants attending this course will:

  • Increase their knowledge of the interviewing process
  • Identify applicants with the most potential for success
  • Become familiar with strategies to obtain data for making good hiring decisions
