
The following are summaries of some policies that
are important for new employees. If you need more information

the following policies carefully and ask your supervisor
or HR representative if you have any questions.
Direct Deposit Policy. As a condition
of employment, all newly hired or rehired employees
on or after August 1, 2007 shall be required to enroll
in the direct deposit feature within thirty (30) days
of hire or rehire. Enrollment forms are available in
your HR office.

Smoking Policy. DHHS has a no-smoking
policy in all buildings to provide
a healthy, safe and productive work environment for
all its employees. Employees
are only allowed to smoke in certain designated smoking
areas outside of
the buildings. The HR office also has information for

Grievance Policy. Employees may file
grievances to appeal certain matters
relating to their employment. The policy outlines what
actions are and are
not grievable, the steps to take, deadlines and forms
to use. You may contact your HR office if you need

Equal Employment Opportunity. This
sets the department's policy on equal
employment opportunity. The department takes steps
to make sure that neither
race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex,
age, political affiliation,
nor handicapping condition is to be considered in the:
- recruitment and selection
of new employees;
- selection of employees for promotion,
training, career
development, transfer, demotion (for financial
purposes) and/or reduction-in-force
(lay-offs);
- disciplinary action or termination
for cause; and
- pay rates including salary adjustments and/or
annual salary increases.

Reporting Abuse,
Neglect
and Exploitation. Employees are legally
required to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation
of people in
the custody
of or receiving services
from DHHS schools, institiutions and divisions. This
