Employment Types and General Personnel Policies

As a new DHHS employee, you should review the information on personnel records and political activity. In the personnel records section, you will find what personnel information is available to the public and what is confidential. The political activity section will explain restrictions related to your status as a public employee. Consult with your HR office before engaging in any political activity.

As discussed briefly in the Performance Management section, there are two stages that you will go through in your employment here at DHHS -- probationary and permanent. (Educators, please go to educator probationary periods for information on your probationary periods.)

If you were hired in some status other than as a regular full-time employee, your status may fall under one of the following types of employment. If you need more information on these types, refer to these topics in the Types of Appointments section in State Personnel manual.
