Promotional Opportunities

Career Service preference

When you have “career service” status, your application for a promotional position will be given priority for hiring over other equally qualified non-career service applicants.

To be in “career service” status, you must be:

  • in a permanent position
  • have been continuously employed by the state for the last 24 months.

For details on this policy, refer to the State Human Resource Manual promotional policy.

Equal Employment Opportunity Considerations

DHHS is committed to a diverse workplace. Each division and institution invites applications from minorities, women and people with disabilities. All applications are considered to meet the department's Equal Employment Opportunity goals.

For details on this policy, refer to the Equal Employment Opportunity section of the State Human Resource Manual.
