Introduction

If you want to improve your writing, you've come to the right place! We all have our stumbling blocks to effective writing, so get ready for some tips on planning, style, grammar, and writing clearly. Then, after you have practiced in all of the areas you need to work on, you'll get some final tips on how to proof and clean up your writing.

How to Go Through the Course

You may go through the topics in this writing course from beginning to end or in any order. Just select the topics that you want to complete from the Table of Contents on the next page.

If you want to complete all of the lessons:

  • Start with the How-To section and then complete the Practice for the first topic. Within each topic, you'll be able to continue through the practice activities and go on to each topic through the continue links at the bottom of each screen.

If you want to skip around or complete only some of the lessons:

  • Start with the How-To section and then complete the Practice for each topic. You may go to the practice activity by following directions in the topic pages or select the practice activities directly from the Table of Contents.
  • When you complete a topic, click on the Table of Contents link at the bottom of any page to return to the contents list and select another topic.
  • When you finish all of the topics that you plan to complete, be sure to click on the final Putting it All Together section on the Table of Contents to get some tips on how to put what you've learned into practice.

Proof of Completion

If your supervisor has asked you to complete the entire course or certain sections, just be sure that you have completed all topics that are required before exiting the training. If you need proof that you have completed the entire course, click on the "Final Activity" at the bottom of the Table of Contents page to complete the activity and turn it in to your supervisor.
