Advisory
Council
for
the
Deaf
and
Hard
of
Hearing
-
advises
the
Division
of
MH/DD/SAS
on
the
development
and
implementation
of
the
long-range
plan. North Carolina Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - The North Carolina Legislature established the North Carolina Council for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (NCCDHH) in 1990 to advise the Department of Health and Human Services on matters pertaining to services provided to deaf and hard of hearing citizens North Carolina Practice Improvement Collaborative - The North Carolina Practice Improvement Collaborative (NC PIC) is an advisory group that provides guidance in determining the future evidence based services and supports that will be provided through our public MHDDSAS system. It is a partnership between consumers, December 4, 2007f services, and the experiences of consumers, family members, and service providers will guide research on future services and supports that might be provided. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Advisory Council - The North Carolina Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council was established in the Department of Health and Human Services on May 31st, 2003. The TBI Council studies the needs of individuals with traumatic brain injury and their families, makes recommendations for statewide TBI service systems, promotes interagency coordination among State agencies responsible for services and support of individuals that have sustained traumatic brain injury, reviews statistics on the incidents of TBI in North Carolina, and promotes injury strategies across North Carolina. The Council consists of 29 appointed members who meet at least quarterly. Related Public Bodies Child Day Care Commission - staffed by the Division of Child Development; adopts rules for licensing and regulating child day care facilities and homes. Commission for Health Services - staffed by the Division of Public Health; adopts rules to protect and promote public health, including sanitation standards for facilities, health outcome objectives, and implementation of public health programs. Medical Care Commission - staffed by the Division of Facility Services; adopts rules for inspection and licensing of hospitals, nursing homes, emergency medical services, and other medical facilities and services. North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (DD Council) - part of a national network of organizations that assist people with developmental disabilities. Physician’s Advisory Group - The North Carolina Physician Advisory Group (NCPAG) is a charitable, nonprofit organization that was created for the purpose of advising the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) on ways to improve the health of the state's vulnerable populations by expanding access to quality, cost-effective health care services. It is endorsed and represented by all major medical specialties and health care providers. A major responsibility of the NCPAG is medical coverage policy review. Social Services Commission - staffed by the Division of Social Services; several divisions present rules; approves rules and regulations for state social services program, including child care provider and client eligibility, placement of children, inspection and licensing of maternity homes, and others.
