NAMI Grading the States - NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, presents this first comprehensive state-by-state analysis of mental health care systems in 15 years. Every U.S. state has been scored on 39 specific criteria resulting in an overall grade and four sub-category grades for each state. The national average grade is D. Five states receive grades in the B range. Eight receive F's. None received A's.

NCPA Report Card - Dated March 16, 2006 this second report card highlights how there is not enough money for mental health.

NC Progress Board - Since 1995, the North Carolina Progress Board has served as an independent proponent for strategic thinking, action, and accountability in the state's public policy arena. Specifically, our mission is to keep leaders and citizens alike focused on the big picture: the long-term goals and needs of our state and its people. This means identifying critical issues, setting milestones, checking progress, reporting data, recommending course corrections, and considering and reporting imaginative solutions to jumpstart change.

NC Medical Journal - The September/October 2003 Volume 64, Number 5 issue of the NC Medical Journal is completely devoted to coverage regarding: Mental Health Reform: The Challenging of Bridge-Building Across Multiple Care Systems.

(NASADAD) is a private, not-for-profit educational, scientific, and informational organization. The Association was originally incorporated in 1971 to serve State Drug Agency Directors, and then in 1978 the membership was expanded to include State Alcoholism Agency Directors. NASADAD's basic purpose is to foster and support the development of effective alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment programs throughout every State. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association - The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) established by an act of Congress in 1992 under Public Law 102-321. SAMHSA was created to focus attention, programs, and funding on improving the lives of people with or at risk for mental and substance abuse disorders. Much has changed since then in the mental health and substance abuse fields, and so, too, has SAMHSA. To that end, SAMHSA's mission and vision have been more sharply focused and aligned with HHS goals and President Bush's administration priorities. It is a vision consistent with the President's New Freedom Initiative that promotes a life in the community for everyone.
