State administrative rules regarding this type of training went into effect 4/1/03.
Agencies
providing
services
as
part
of
the
North
Carolina
publicly
funded
mental
health,
developmental
disabilities
and
substance
abuse
services
system
may
use
training
programs
of
their
choice,
according
to
the
rules,
as
long
as
they
are
approved
by
the
Division.

Review of New Curricula:
If your agency wishes to develop its own curriculum, the curriculum must be reviewed and approved by the state.
The Division Curriculum Review Committee reviews curricula based on training competencies. These competencies describe the abilities the trainee should gain during training. They are divided into 3 sections: a) prevention; b) use; c) instructor training.
To apply for your curriculum to be reviewed, send in: 1. Cover letter/memo; 2. Completed crosswalk(s) - These describe how & where your curriculum handles each competency (instructions are on the forms); 3. The curriculum.

To have a training program reviewed, by e-mail, floppy disk or CD, electronically send in a cover letter, a completed crosswalk and a copy of the program itself to:
