CMS Investigations
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Centers are inspected on a regular basis. Inspectors may also enter to investigate complaints that may come up between regular visits. Survey teams from the Acute Care Section of the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation inspect the centers to determine whether they are meeting standards set by the state, and by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. If the centers are in compliance with CMS rules, then they may bill Medicare and Medicaid for patient care. Copies of CMS inspections are available on this site.
