Clinical Director Appointed at Broughton Hospital
Dr. George H. Krebs Jr., M.D., is the new Clinical Director of Broughton
Hospital.
Dr. Krebs replaces Dr. Kevin Kilbride who has returned to active
status as a Broughton Hospital staff psychiatrist on the Adult
Acute Admissions Division after 14 years of dedicated service,
said Broughton Hospital Director Seth Hunt.
“I consider it a great privilege to have worked with and served
the citizens of Western North Carolina for the past 12 plus years.
In doing so, I have been deeply impressed with the amount of dedication
and caring shown by the staff of Broughton Hospital as we have
worked together to meet the ever increasing needs of the population
that our hospital serves. I am very honored to be allowed to serve
the citizens of Western North Carolina in this present capacity,
and will do all I can to advocate for them as well as the fine
staff at Broughton hospital as our role in this service continues
to evolve,” Dr. Krebs said.
Dr. Krebs was employed at Broughton Hospital in May 1993 as a staff
psychiatrist on the Adult Admissions Division. While on the Adult
Admissions Division, he served as director of the division from March
1995 until August 1998 and director of psychiatric services from
August 1998 until September 2004. Dr. Krebs was appointed interim
Director of Clinical Services at Broughton Hospital in September
2004. During his tenure at Broughton Hospital, he served as president
of the Medical/Psychology Staff from July 1996 until June 1998. He
is currently a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral
medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and is actively
involved in the supervision of psychiatric residents. He has three
children: Sarah, age 21; Alex, age 17; and Leza age 11.
“Dr. Krebs is a wonderful and dedicated physician who has earned
the respect of our staff during the many years of his service. He
is a very ethical man who settles for nothing less than excellent
patient care,” Hunt said. “Dr. Krebs is well respected in the medical
community and recognized as one who exercises sound judgment in decisions
he makes in the clinical operation of such a large and complex hospital.
I am very proud to acknowledge his dedication and accomplishments
by this appointment.”
