Providing consumers
information on and/or referrals to human service providers in
all 100 North Carolina counties through the NCDHHS
CARE-LINE Information and Referral Service.
As a part of the Returning
Support for Veterans Program, the Office of Citizen Services’ CARE-LINE
began service 24 hours a day 7 days a week on April 1, 2008.
Information and Referral Services for veterans and other North
Carolina residents will be available around the clock.
Assisting with
problem resolution for concerns or complaints regarding services
that NCDHHS oversees or administers through the department’s Ombudsman
Program.
Overseeing Disaster
Coordination efforts
for NCDHHS by facilitating communication and serving as the central
point of contact for NCDHHS divisions and
offices, NC Emergency Management
and other key players before, during and after a disaster or emergency.
Spearheading
the DHHS Customer Service Initiative. OCS provides guidance,
consultation and direction to NCDHHS divisions and offices in how to
maintain effective customer service operations and the highest standards
of customer service practices. The OCS Director chairs the Secretary’s Customer
Service Task Force.
