H1N1 Update

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, no new cases have been confirmed in North Carolina today. North Carolina still has 23 confirmed cases of the novel H1N1 virus.

County-by-county confirmed H1N1 case counts:

  • Brunswick - 1
  • Buncombe - 1
  • Carteret - 2
  • Craven - 7
  • Durham - 1
  • Mecklenburg - 1
  • New Hanover - 3
  • Onslow - 3
  • Orange - 2
  • Rutherford - 1
  • Wake - 1

The following information can help residents prevent transmission of the novel H1N1 influenza:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick
  • Stay at home if you are sick

Influenza-like symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea or vomiting associated with this virus.
