Gov. Perdue to Join in Ribbon Cutting October 8 for New Public Health Lab and State Medical Examiner’s Office

RALEIGH – Gov. Bev Perdue will join Secretary Al Delia, leadership from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and other state officials on Monday, October 8 at 2 p.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new facility that will house the State Laboratory of Public Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The $52 million facility is a state of the art setting that meets national standards for bioterrorism and hazardous chemical response.

A media “sneak peek” will be offered at 10 a.m. This will be a rare opportunity for a firsthand look inside the State Medical Examiner’s autopsy suite. Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Deborah Radisch will be on hand to provide a tour and answer questions. Media will also be allowed to tour the lab facilities in advance of the ribbon cutting.

When: October 8 at 2 p.m.

Where: 4312 District Drive, Raleigh, (District Drive is located off Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh).

From downtown Raleigh/I440:
Wade Avenue, exit Blue Ridge Road. Turn right on Blue Ridge. Turn left at first traffic light onto District Drive. The State Highway Patrol is on the corner. Take District Drive to the end (new facility is at the end).

From Durham/west:
I-40 E toward Raleigh. Keep right to take Wade Avenue via Exit 289 toward I-440/US-1. Take the Blue Ridge Road exit. Turn left onto Blue Ridge Road. Turn left onto District Drive. The State Highway Patrol is on the corner. Take District Drive to the end (new facility is at the end).
