Ensure Efficiency, Transparency and Accountability of DHHS Programs

Hi, my name is Kevin Kelley and I am the Section Chief for Child Welfare Services at the Division of Social Services.

Did you know that 50% of your performance evaluation is measured on the goals set through the NCVIP process?

One of the 5 goals for DHHS in the upcoming fiscal year is to Ensure Efficiency, Transparency and Accountability of DHHS Programs. Characteristics of this goal include:

  1. Financial and results reporting are straightforward and understandable to managers, decision makers and taxpayers
  2. Enhance access to and use of data to improve DHHS programs and to support improvements in the health and well-being of North Carolinians
  3. Continuously enhance our agency-wide comprehensive communication plan for internal staff and external stakeholders

An example of this goal within the Division of Social Services is the child welfare ASSIST (Accessing and Searching Sensitive Information through Technology) system. This is a web-based computer system that will provide easily accessible data to child welfare social workers conducting child protective services assessment. Having access to criminal information regarding the caretakers of these children will ensure that a full safety assessment can be conducted for both the children and the social workers conducting the assessment.

Thank you for taking the time to watch this video.

Please discuss with your manager the goals established for your division or department to ensure your individual goals are in alignment with one or more of the DHHS goals for the upcoming fiscal year.
