Zack Wortman Zack Wortman serves as the Chief of Staff at DHHS. He runs day-to-day operations in the Secretary’s Office across the policy, legislative affairs, communications and legal teams. Prior to joining the Department, Wortman was a management consultant in the Charlotte office of McKinsey & Co., focusing on strategy and growth for hospitals, health systems, health insurance companies and state Medicaid agencies. He also served as the Border States Director on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign in North Carolina. He earned a bachelor’s degree Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University. Wortman is married to Jody Heck Wortman, a data scientist. He is also a contributing writer to The New Yorker and McSweeney’s.
