Medicaid Budget: Best Shape in Many Years

Raleigh, N.C.

North Carolina's Medicaid Program ended SFY 2013-14 with $63 million in the bank, money which has reverted to the state's General Fund. This marks the first time in five years that Medicaid has ended the year without having to ask the General Assembly for money due to a deficiency.

"I want to congratulate this committee, the appropriations committees in the House and Senate, and the leadership of the Department of Health and Human Services on finishing the year with a budget in the best shape in many years. As an appropriator, I look forward to the trend continuing." - Rep. Nelson Dollar, Senior Chairman, Appropriations Committee
