Steve Tedder is the Chief Information Officer for the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to assuming his current role, he was a Director responsible for business intelligence/analytics and business systems for the state’s $14 billion Medicaid program.

Tedder has held senior and executive management positions in the public and private sector in client and consulting capacities, with an emphasis in information technology management and enterprise transformation.

He started his career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and subsequently became an associate partner at the firm. He has served private- and public-sector clients including the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He continued his consulting career as a Senior Principal for Diamond Technology Partners Inc., serving health insurance, global publishing and music industry clients.

Tedder left consulting to become Chief Operating Officer for Oak Value Capital Management Inc. He then returned to his primary interest in technology-enabled enterprise transformation in senior management roles supporting the state of North Carolina and clients in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Tedder is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and applied mathematics. He is a U.S. Army veteran.
