Office People, Culture and Belonging Functions to Accomplish NCDHHS DEI Priorities
- Employee Engagement and Belonging: Providing a sense of belonging for NCDHHS’s over 15,000 team members is a top priority that includes recognizing and celebrating identity, difference, and embracing opportunities that formally recognize the historical contributions of our diverse population.
- Education and Guidance: The Office of DEI provides consultation, technical assistance, educational support, and training opportunities to support the growth of department-wide knowledge related to DEI-related matters; also engaging with internal and external partners to provide guidance and best practice for evolving DEI needs.
- DEI Council Network: NCDHHS’ DEI Councils function in over twenty of the divisions and offices to support localized diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and provide guidance for work teams throughout the department.
- Agency-wide DEI Planning, Communication, & Infrastructure: DEI is everyone’s job, every day; the Office of DEI seeks to embed equity practices and values throughout all activities and initiatives of DHHS, communicating our values of belonging and creating cross-functional teams and workgroups to support the work.
- Policy Review and Development: The Office of DEI is charged with using an equity-minded lens to explore, assess, and evaluate the various policies and procedures that impact the recruitment, selection, and retention of a strong and inclusive workforce.
