North Carolina Medicaid provides health care coverage for low-income individuals and families who cannot afford it. NC Medicaid assistance goes further in improving the lives of North Carolinians of all ages. This includes support for medically fragile children, people with mental illness and those in adult care and nursing homes. With the Dec. 1, 2023, expansion of NC Medicaid more people can now get Medicaid.
