Transportation Services for Older Adults
North Carolina offers transportation services serves the general public and human service agencies. These agencies have programs to help people gain access to transportation services when they do not have access to a vehicle.
Adults 60 and older may be eligible for transportation assistance to destinations, such as senior lunch programs and grocery stores. Some counties also have funding for senior transportation to medical appointments. These rides are sponsored by a combination of county, state and federal Older Americans Act funds.
If you are Medicaid-eligible, then Medicaid will support your ride to Medicaid-covered services.

For non-Medicaid sponsored transportation alternatives, people age 60 and older may contact local agencies that provide general and medical transportation supported by the Home and Community Care Block Grant.
