Gov. Cooper has declared April as the "Month of the Young Child" and April 1-7 as the "Week of the Young Child," encouraging all North Carolinians to support efforts that increase children and family access to high-quality early childhood education.

Tomorrow, North Carolina joins partners across the state and nation in celebrating the “Week of the Young Child” April 1-7, 2023. The annual event sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

We invite you to celebrate North Carolina’s early care and learning programs with special themes and activities throughout the week! Families can participate in scheduled activities at their child’s schools. You can also show appreciation on social media for the early care and learning teachers and educators who serve young children and families each day. Use the hashtags #WOYC23 and #RaiseNC and be sure to tag @ncdhhs.
