About the Facility

R.J. Blackley is one of  three state operated North Carolina Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Centers (ADATCs) specifically designed to provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with substance use and other co-occurring mental health diagnoses to prepare for ongoing community based treatment and recovery.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria

Admission is available to any adult in our region regardless of financial resources or insurance status. Patients pay on a sliding scale according to their income. North Carolina law provides for two types of admission procedures, voluntary and involuntary.

Affiliations: The Center offers practicum, internship and field placement opportunities for students in Counseling Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work and Nursing, working closely with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, East Carolina University, Liberty University and Shaw University.
