NC-TOPPS (NC Treatment Outcomes and Program Performance System)

NC-TOPPS data are used in treatment, quality improvement and research

NC-TOPPS is a Division web-based system for gathering outcome and performance data on behalf of mental health and substance abuse consumers in North Carolina’s public system of services. The NC-TOPPS system provides reliable information that is used to measure the impact of treatment and to improve service and manage quality throughout the service system.

Announcements

Common Name Data Service(CNDS) Usage Report: As of March 24th, LME/MCO and provider agency Superusers can access the CNDS Usage Report under the reports tab after logging into the system. On July 1, 2014, DMH/DD/SAS included the Common Name Data Service (CNDS) number in the Community NCTOPPS. By adding the CNDS number, NC-TOPPS will eventually be better able to link service utilization and outcomes by using other state databases. As communicated in Joint Communication Bulletin #111 the CNDS field would become a mandatory field in NC-TOPPS starting July 1, 2015.

Simple Query Report Now Available: As of January 30th, 2015, provider agency Superusers can access the Simple Query Report under the reports tab after logging into the system.  This expanded outcomes dashboard includes demographics of the population served, treatment demographics, substance use, employment, education, housing, maternal/perinatal outcomes, and service needs/satisfaction.

General Guidelines for Simple Query Report

Interview Method Report Now Available: As of February 4th, 2015, LME/MCO and provider agency Superusers can access the Interview Method Report under the reports tab after logging into the system. This report dashboard allows the Superuser access to aggregate data of how interviews are conducted. Interview method questions from Section II and Section III are reflected in this report and the report has export data functionality (data can be downloaded in a csv file). When data is not gathered directly from the consumer, there is a missed opportunity to collect outcome information related to emotional well-being, physical health, recovery supports and the helpfulness of the program. The Interview Method Report will allow Superusers the ability to monitor how interviews are being conducted and implement improvement initiatives when necessary.
