Other Information for System Users
NC-TOPPS was launched in 1997, as a partnership between the federal government and the state as a system for monitoring and evaluating substance abuse treatment services. In 2005, the system was made web-based and began to include mental health consumers.
NC-TOPPS provides a stable, credible, useful and efficient system for reporting performance and outcomes for North Carolina substance abuse and mental health services.
Initial and Update Interviews
These interviews were designed to assist System Users in evaluating effectiveness of treatment. The instruments were built on research findings and field practice. The Initial and Update Interviews do not cover all consumer problems that may warrant clinical intervention, but they do cover a majority of standard problems known to affect the populations. The Initial Interview is designed to gather information on consumer demographics and pre-treatment behaviors. The Update Interview is designed to gather information on consumer behavioral or status changes.
