    Elder Rights and Special Initiatives

    To administer programs under Titles V and VII of the Older Americans Act, which includes the Senior Community Service Employment Program; the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program; elder abuse neglect, and exploitation prevention; development of legal assistance; volunteer development; and other initiatives.

    This Section of the Division of Aging and Adult Services is responsible for the statewide administration and supervision of programs under TitleV and VII of the Older American's Act. The section's Long Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates on behalf of residents in nursing homes and adult care homes. The Elder Rights Section also provides information and in some cases assists in such areas as public benefits counseling and assistance; elder abuse prevention; pension counseling and legal assistance, i.e., living wills, power of attorney and other types of legal documents; senior employment, and consumer protection.
