    Elder Rights and Special Initiatives

    To administer programs under Titles V and VII of the Older Americans Act, which includes the Senior Community Service Employment Program; the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program; elder abuse neglect, and exploitation prevention; development of legal assistance; volunteer development; and other initiatives.

    This Section of the Division of Aging and Adult Services is responsible for the statewide administration and supervision of programs under Title V and VII of the Older Americans Act. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates on behalf of residents in nursing homes and adult care homes. The Elder Rights Section also provides general information about public benefits; elder abuse prevention; legal assistance, i.e., living wills, power of attorney and other types of legal documents; senior employment and consumer protection.
