North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services

North Carolina’s Attorney General’s Office is very active in helping consumers avoid fraud and exploitation. Its Consumer Protection Section uses mediation to help consumers resolve complaints in such areas as telemarketing. Its Citizens’ Rights Section provides information on victims’ rights issues, elder abuse, and other matters important to older consumers.

• The Coalition for Responsible Lending (CRL) is an alliance of individuals and organizations in North Carolina dedicated to promoting principles of responsible lending practices.
• The National Fraud Information Center was established by the National Consumers League to fight telemarketing fraud by improving prevention and enforcement.
