NC’s 100 Distinguished Public Health Nurses Includes 11 from Division of Public Health

Eleven nurses from the Division of Public Health are among recipients of the 100 Distinguished Public Health Nurses in North Carolina award as part of the Centennial Anniversary of the Office of Public Health Nursing.

Eleven nurses from the Division of Public Health are among recipients of the 100 Distinguished Public Health Nurses in North Carolina award as part of the Centennial Anniversary of the Office of Public Health Nursing.

The public health nurse leaders were selected by a committee of eight peers from state, local and academic partners. They embody the spirit of public health nursing - innovation, collaboration, community-centered care, and professionalism.

Their work includes providing leadership in public health across the state and carrying out the mission of the Division of Public Health to promote and contribute to the highest possible level of health for the people of North Carolina.

The recipients were recognized in September at an awards luncheon in Greensboro. The 11 Division of Public Health recipients are:

  • Lynn Conner, Public Health Nursing and Professional Development Unit
  • Betty Cox, Women's Health Branch
  • Vicky Deem, Cancer Prevention and Control Branch
  • Vanessa Greene, Communicable Disease Branch
  • Lucy Heffelfinger, School Health Unit
  • Pamela Langdon, Public Health Nursing and Professional Development Unit
  • Beth Lovette, Division Management Team
  • Ann Nichols, School Health Unit
