Tammy Koger, M.S., C.P.M

Director of Division of Aging

Tammy Koger serves as the Director of the North Carolina Division of Aging. Previously, she held the role of Deputy Director within the Division, where she oversaw housing, aging services and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman programs. Prior to joining the Division, Tammy worked with both public and private organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. Her experience includes serving as Director of the North Carolina Assistive Technology Program, Executive Director of two nonprofit organizations focused on aging, disabilities, and adult services, as well as managing federal and state contracting initiatives.

In addition to her extensive professional background, Tammy brings personal experience as an adult caregiver, offering a meaningful perspective on the challenges and opportunities within aging services. Her combined expertise in state government, nonprofit leadership, and assistive technology—along with her commitment to aging initiatives—supports her work in developing new opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and advancing the Division’s mission through the All Ages, All Stages multi-sector plan.

Tammy earned a Bachelor of Psychology from Radford University, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and is a Certified Public Manager. Her professional interests include aging in place, dementia care and caregiving, performance management, and leadership development to enhance services and outcomes for older adults across North Carolina.
